The Challenge

  • Making noise in the highly competitive world of lager is difficult for any brand  and requires a push / pull approach to both consumers and trade alike
  • Cobra’s saliency was high but perception of it as a beer of choice only in Indian Restaurants prevailed and was hampering its growth in the on trade

The Solution

  • Cobra Beer took its place at three high profile events – Taste London, Henley Regatta and Goodwood Festival of Speed
  • A mobile bar with interactive ‘banter’ pods and replica AC Cobra drove awareness of the promotional offer – Win a VIP Track Day at Silverstone
  • A nationwide on trade sampling activity took place in key conurbations to build awareness, trial and loyalty, and drive distribution – a key commercial objective

The Result

  • 540 outlets delivering 52,000 trialists and c.2.5m OTS
  • 12 event days delivering 105,000 trialists & 340,000 OTS
  • 83% rated experience as ‘excellent/very good’; overall opinion stronger in the on trade
  • 89% of those sampled told somebody about their Cobra experience
  • Our activity delivered a strong ROI, i.e. for every £1 invested we expect to drive £1.65 profit within 12 months
